ebay Sourcing All Weekend

Goodwill + Time/Effort = $$$$

Good Times at the Goodwill

I grew up EXTREMELY poor in LOWER Alabama. One of the worst insults was someone saying your momma got your clothes at Goodwill. I wish I could tell my younger self that Goodwill is, in fact, *AWESOME*!

How many cool games, bikes, toys, etc did I miss out on because of some dumb azz perceived notion about a thrift store?

Thanks to MONEY TWITTER I was directed to Goodwill to look for various items. The items can be sold on eBay for SURPRISINGLY high profit margins.

This weekend I sourced at Walmart for some pretty cool stuff thanks to my “Products for Profit” alerts. I hit about 4 Walmarts early in the morning and then I was front and center at 1000 HRS for a particular Goodwill to open its doors.

There are numerous Goodwills in the area and there are MANY high-income folks around who donate crazy expensive stuff. I went to the Goodwill in Columbia, MD., and was NOT disappointed.

Although the interior was not as “fancy” as I was expecting, the electronics aisles were JAMMED PACKED with potential profits. I would pay extra if I could go in one hour before everyone else and be left alone to check “comps”!! πŸ˜‰

There are numerous strategies for Goodwill hunting.

If you don’t get this reference…trust me, it’s hilarious.

Old School Electronics

My strategy for this trip was to inspect ALL of the electronics such as VCRs and DVD players. I don’t even know what I am looking for other than VCR, DVD, and/or VCR/DVD combo. Once I locate a potential item, I search eBay and see if the item I am inspecting is, unlike most of my co-workers, worth a flip!

Toys in Original Packaging

There was a fairly large toy section at this Goodwill. My first pass through the section, the ONLY thing I looked for were toys still in original packaging. I found numerous board games, some weird mosaic thing, and an electronic Chewbacca mask. All in almost pristine condition and NEVER opened.
( Who ARE these kids that don’t open toys? )

All of these items cost $5.00 or less and sold for $25 or more. It still boggles my mind that this is a feasible option to make money!

Opened Toys

I went through again and looked at the remaining toys. Found a few gems in the stacks. One find was a cool Golden Tee game that hooks to your television.

My son and I get a few rounds in to test it out before, reluctantly, offering it up to the eBay listing Gods! (Cost $3.00 and sold for $25.00 plus shipping)

Complete Store Walk Through

Do I care about plates and wine glasses? YES. But not while at Goodwill! πŸ˜‰

*BUT*… I walked through that area to ensure I saw EVERYTHING. You never know when people will grab an item, change their minds, and put it down wherever they happen to be.

As luck would have it, I profited over $100+ by walking through the dish/silverware aisle. Someone left behind an UNOPENED “Disc Title Printer”.

Who cares, right? Well, it was sealed so I gave it the ole eBay scan.

It was priced for 8 bucks at Goodwill and ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS on eBay! ( $150.00 ).

It made me think about folks who make approx $8.00 per hour at their 9-5.

With this ONE item, they could multiply ONE HOUR of pay into over 2 complete workdays worth of income. BEFORE TAXES!

This old, 8 dollar item is worth 2+ days of pay for some people. FLIPPING IS FREE MONEY!

Goodwill Finale

I have learned my lesson that Goodwill is AWESOME and anyone who thinks otherwise is probably an immature stinky poop head. πŸ˜‰

If anyone gives you grief for heading into your local Goodwill as you try to find products to flip for profit, just look them up when you flip a $10 VCR for $200+ and ask them:
